THE FASTQUOTE FAMILY · IN DEVELOPMENT

From the model and the plans
straight into the estimate.

Two tools that measure what you are quoting and hand the numbers to fastQuote as ordinary estimate rows — priced on your rates, readable line by line, yours to override. fastQuote 3D works inside FreeCAD on 3D models. fastTakeoff measures PDF plans.

Both are in development: built and working in our own tests, not yet used on customer jobs, and not part of the closed beta. Design partners get them first.

FASTQUOTE 3D · FOR FREECAD

Price the part, not just the parts list

The hours on a weldment or a machined part are where most quotes guess. fastQuote 3D reads the exact geometry from the STEP model and turns it into hours on your own shop rates — and shows every factor it used.

Weldment costing

Weld hours you can defend

  • Pick edges on the model, or draw the weld path
  • Standard AWS joints: fillet, square / V / bevel / J / U grooves, flare, plug and slot
  • Hours from deposition, operating factor and weld position
  • Weld prep (e.g. grinding) and filler metal as their own rows
WLDRWFIL
Part costing

Machined parts from the STEP file

  • Exact stock size and weight from the solid
  • Holes found for you; you confirm taps and tag setups, tolerances and finishes on faces
  • Machining hours from removed material, holes and setups
  • Finishes, and burn profiles exported as 1:1 DXFs

=TREE()

Lives in FreeCAD’s model tree

Stock, holes, operations, finishes, tolerances and welds are objects in the model tree with real units — double-click to edit. Saved with the model, reopened any time.

=SEND()

Send to estimate

One click lands the part’s rows in your fastQuote job, under the right assembly, priced at the next Run All. Change the model and send again — the new rows replace the old ones.

=FREE()

Runs in FreeCAD

FreeCAD is the free, open-source 3D CAD program (version 1.1 or later); you install it yourself. Works in inches or millimetres — it follows your FreeCAD units.

FASTTAKEOFF · PDF PLANS

Measure the plans, price in fastQuote

Open the plan set inside fastQuote, measure lengths, areas and counts on the scaled sheets, and send the quantities to the estimate. fastTakeoff measures; fastQuote prices — on your rates, never on a price list baked into a takeoff tool.

=MEASURE()

Lengths, areas, counts

Scaled PDF plans, measured on screen. Conditions and assemblies group what you measured into the items you actually price.

=WASTE()

Waste and CSI carried through

Quantities arrive with their waste factor and CSI code, in your profile’s units, as rows in the right discipline’s workbook.

=BID()

One combined bid

Split the job by discipline, run each one, and send one quote with project-level costs, contingency and bond.

WHICH ONE

Which one do I need?

You quote from 3D models

fastQuote 3D

  • Machine shops, fabricators, weld shops
  • Customer sends STEP files, or you model the part
  • The hard number is machining or welding hours
You quote from plan sets

fastTakeoff

  • Trade and specialty contractors
  • Customer sends PDF drawings to scale
  • The hard number is quantities: feet, square feet, counts

Both are included in every fastQuote plan as they leave development — no add-on prices. fastQuote itself already reads PDF parts lists, DXF cut profiles and CAD Excel BOMs without either tool.
